Lassen Volcanic by season

Winter Fair

Deep snow closes the main park highway. Snowshoeing and backcountry skiing from the southwest entrance.

Spring Fair

Still snowbound. The highway usually clears only in June, or later after big winters.

Summer Good

The main season, usually July to September. Trails to Lassen Peak and Bumpass Hell open, and the lakes are swimmable.

Fall Good

Quiet and crisp. The highway stays open until the first heavy snow, often in October or November.
